Some very interesting tech conferences and events have been organised in Ghana. These events have tuned the focus of the Ghanaian youth to technology and hot to apply its benefits to the development of Ghana and Africa as a whole. Some of these events include Innovation Week, Barcamp Kumasi and Online 2011. In the next couple of days, Ghana will become the center of attention as it hosts experts and technology enthusiasts in three other high-profiled events.
One April 28th the Kofi Annan Center of Excellence will host the Ghana Telecom Summit. Ghana ICT & Telecom Summit 2011 is designed to explore the critical business, service and technology strategies needed to ensure market competitiveness and exploit emerging opportunities for increased growth and profitability in Ghana ICT market. On April 29th, the organizers will hold an awards night no honor distinguished entities in the Telecom and ICT industry. Check the summit’s website to register for this event.
At the Alisa Hotel on April 28th and 29th, Google Ghana will organize the second edition of its 2day G-Ghana event. Day 1 will focus on using Google developer tools to push the boundaries of web applications whiles day 2 will be chock-full of Google product demonstrations aimed at tech entrepreneurs and marketers. In May, Garage48 will complete my trio. Garage48 will be organised at the KACE-AITI in cooperation with Google and Nokia from May 13th to May 15th. Garage48 events usually start at 5pm on a Friday evening. All participants gather together in a big room and pitch about 30 to 40 ideas on stage. Each idea is put on the wall and everyone can choose their favorite idea and team. Usually about 12-15 ideas will be selected and teams start working. Register for Garage48 here.
