Prof. Maggie Kigozi on African leadership and women

Prof. Maggie Kigozi, is a fellow of the African Leadership Initiative of the Aspen Institute, is a medical doctor by profession. She has practiced medicine in Uganda, Zambia and Kenya. In 1994 she joined the private sector as Marketing Director at Crown Bottlers (Pepsi) Ltd. She was elected as a Board Member of Uganda Manufacturers Association and played a key role as chairperson of the sector subcommittee in advising the Uganda Government on private sector friendly policies.

In 1999 she was appointed Executive Director of Uganda Investment Authority, a post she held till 2011.  During her tenure at UIA, Prof. Kigozi was able to attract over 4 billion USD FDI and over 10 billion USD in planned investment. She has promoted Uganda, East Africa and the Common Market for East and Central Africa. Prof. Kigozi is a mother of 3, and is an avid tree planter. She is currently working as a Director at Crown Beverages Ltd and as a business consultant. Other positions of note she has held over her illustrious career include: Chancellor Nkumba University, Chief Scout of the Uganda Scouts Association, Associate Professor at Makerere University, Member of Global Banking Alliance for Women (GBA) Advisory Board among others.
